General Flu Vaccine Information

 

PNEUMONIA VACCINE is recommended for anyone age 65 and older, persons under age 65 with serious, chronic medical conditions, and adults age 19-64 who smoke or have asthma. 
 
 
 Flu Vaccine: $35.00             High Dose Flu Vaccine:  $50.00     Pneumonia Vaccine: $71.00
 
                                     
 FLU VACCINE is recommended for the following:
 
*EVERYONE AGE 6 MONTHS AND OLDER, and especially:
*Anyone who has serious chronic medical conditions, immunosuppression
*Children age 6 mos. to 18 yrs. who are receiving long term aspirin therapy
*Adults age 50 and older                  
*Health-care personnel                                                                                         
*Women who will be pregnant during flu season                         
*Caregivers/household contacts/daycare providers for infants less than 6 months
 old, and for children age 6 to 59 months
*Household contacts, caregivers, and daycare providers for persons at high risk
 for complications from flu, such as:  persons age 50 and older, children birth to
 59 months, persons with chronic medical conditions and/or weakened immune
 systems, and children on long term aspirin therapy
*Residents of nursing homes and other chronic care facilities
 
Listed below are very general rules about insurance coverage at the clinics:
 
PLEASE BRING ALL INSURANCE CARDS
MEDICAID will not cover these vaccines at the clinic. 
 
Medicaid Part B will be accepted.  If you have Preferred Care Gold, Blue Choice Senior or Encompass 65, those are your Medicare and we have to bill them, NOT Medicare. Please bring your cards and inform the clinic. Otherwise, Medicare (Part B ONLY) will pay.   If you have Senior Blue and Medicare Part B, only Medicare Part B will pay- bring both cards.
 
In addition to Medicare & Medicare HMO's the following insurance plans, will cover one or both vaccines at the clinic for some age groups in some situations and/or specific plans:  MVP Health Care, Excellus, Independent Health , Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York plans.
