Our public health workforce continues to shrink in response to budget cuts and may lack the capacity to effectively respond to a large scale public health-related emergency as our medical system becomes overwhelmed. In response, Orleans County VALOR Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), consisting of medical and non-medical volunteers, will be there to support efforts and to help our community recover more quickly.
O.C. VALOR Volunteers help build community resilience. Volunteers participate in basic FEMA and health department sponsored core competency trainings to be at the ready. Volunteers also participate in local events to promote VALOR and to offer community support. To see our accomplishments in 2011, click this newsletter. We hope to grow and serve our community each year, and will do so with your help – neighbors helping neighbors.
