Real Property Department

The Real Property Tax Services Department provides a multitude of services to governments especially the assessment community and the general public.

Our highest priority is to ensure that the County tax system is maintained in a fair and equitable manner complying with New York State Real Property Tax Law.

This department is mandated by New York State Real Property Tax Law. Currently our department is responsible for the following:

  • Maintaining the Tax Maps.
  • Printing of the Assessment rolls, tax rolls and tax bills.
  • Training members of the Board of Assessment Review.
  • Assisting Assessors.
  • Assistance in the enforcement of unpaid taxes.
  • In addition to the numerous mandated duties, our department is currently contracting with the Towns of Albion and Gaines to provide for full assessment services. 

      News 

      If you currently receive the Basic STAR property tax exemption, then you must register with the New York State Tax and Finance Department to continue receiving this exemption.  Watch your mail for important information from the Tax Department.

     Senior Citizens receiving the Enhanced STAR exemption DO NOT need to register with the Tax Department and will follow the same application process with their local assessor as in the past.
